Spirit & Soul

where the experience feeds your spirit, and the food feeds your soul!

About Chef Jermaine

My Story is a Journey of Purpose and Heritage.

I’m Chef Jermaine Abdual—this is who I am. Spirit & Soul is rooted in faith, food, and storytelling. I create Southern-inspired dishes with Chi-Town flavor, where my Southern heritage meets my Chicago favorites. It’s more than food—it’s a reflection of my roots, my city, and the journey that shaped me.

my soul disguised as a catering company.

Spirit & Soul was never just about food. It’s about honoring the women who fed me with their hands and their hearts—my grandmothers—and honoring the city that raised me. It’s about feeding people with presence, purpose, and peace. It’s about reintroducing the table—not just as a place to eat, but as a space to gather, heal, and experience something deeper. A place where stories are shared, culture is preserved, and community is built—one plate at a time. We serve more than meals—we restore presence, purpose, and belonging.

seasoned by heritage, inspired by purpose.

Every dish is a memory. Every flavor has meaning. And this time, it’s not just about what’s served—it’s about what’s restored. Whether I'm cooking on a grill or setting up shop at a community event, I arrive with the same goal: to bring people together around food that holds meaning.

Our Menu

seasonal pop-up menu

A nod to rib tips, minus the pork—smoked, chopped, slathered in either: sweet & spicy glaze, mumbo sauce, or lemon pepper sauce. Also served with seasonal waffles on the brunch menu.

A Southern spin on my city’s beloved Maxwell Street Polish—this version features a grilled Chicken Mississippi sausage, topped with grilled onions, tangy mustard, and a smooth drizzle of Chicago mild sauce. It’s Chi-Town flavor with Delta roots.

Thick-cut smoked bologna, grilled and glazed with mild sauce, mustard aioli, crispy onions, and cheese on a slider bun.

My take on the classic Chicago corn roll tamale—featuring a deconstructed jalapeño cornbread base, topped with spiced beef and finished with a bold salsa verde drizzle. A hot dog stand staple, reimagined with Southern soul.
